My 11 kids have 5 strict rules to follow before they’re 8 – they have to do their own washing for starter
A MUM-OF-11 has revealed the five strict rules she’s implemented for her kids to ensure that her home runs effectively.
And Brenda Martin said that without her children doing their own washing and serving their own breakfast, she’d never get anything done.

The parent lifted the lid on the family rules she’d come up with to help the huge family’s “days run smoothly”.
First, she revealed that she’d asked her 11 children to make their own breakfast and serve it up themselves, leaving her time to concentrate on other things.
Next, she said they “eat lunch and dinner buffet style,” as she showed in a video posted to her social media account where the kids were lining up to take what they wanted from the kitchen.
Linked to this, Brenda added: “I don’t do meals in serving dishes at the table.”
Away from their eating habits, Brenda also maintained that her children should learn how to do basic household chores.
She said: “By aged 8, kids do laundry.”
While her final rule was that they have a rota system to complete housework.
She explained: “Each person has daily and weekly household duties.”
Speaking about the motivation behind her decision, Brenda explained: “I’ve learned I don’t have to do things like “everyone else” does.”
The mum, who is on Instagram under the name @brenda.k.martin, continued: “And I’m not the kids’ maid… we are a team.
“They help carry the load and feel so needed & valued!”

Brenda was soon commended by her followers on Instagram for drilling that message into her young children.
One social media user said: “Honestly you are the best mom ever.
“If your kids do all that stuff without any complaints and understand that “moms” are not their personal maids but actual humans and they should also work as a team, then they deserve a standing ovation for that.
“I’m happy that you have broken that system and the stereotype of mothers are maids… proud of u mama.”
While another added: “Yessss! Everyone helps to keep things ship shape and running smooth.”
