Trump trial judge issues protective order after tapes of co-defendants leak

Fulton County Superior Court Judge Scott McAfee on Wednesday said that he would enter a protective order after evidence was leaked in President Donald Trump's election interference case.

"The release of these confidential video recordings is clearly intended to intimidate witnesses in this case, subjecting them to harassment and threats prior to trial," the Fulton County District Attorney's Office said in a motion on Tuesday.

The leaks involved interviews between prosecutors and Trump's codefendants Sidney Powell and Jenna Ellis, recorded before both made plea deals.

At the hearing on Wednesday, the district attorney's office consented to a protective order drafted by attorneys for defendant David Shafer.

McAfee said he would draft the order based on Shafer's proposal.

The leaked videos were sent to two news outlets.
