CORONATION Street viewers have been left shocked after Amy Barlow went to extreme lengths to get revenge following her rape ordeal.
The character – played by Elle Mulvaney – was raped by former flatmate Aaron last year and has been struggling to deal with what happened ever since.
Earlier this week, it was revealed that Amy had taken it upon herself to go hunting for sexual predators in local nightclubs to try and save other women from ending up in her situation and to bring her own form of justice to the perpetrators.
In tonight’s episode, Amy clocked a guy putting drops of GHB – a date rape drug – into a drink and then offering it to a drunk female in the club.
Amy managed to knock the drink out of his hand before taking the lass into the toilets to help her dry off, before revealing what she saw.
Once the partygoer had left the club safely to go home, Amy turned her attention to the man – Dan – and pretended to be interested in him, introducing herself as Claire.
He proceeded to buy her drinks, slipping drops of GHB into them, but Amy sneakily kept switching the drinks round so he was the one drinking the drug.
Dan was soon out of it, and Amy called Aadi Alahan to come and pick her up, failing to mention her extra passenger.
When Aadi arrived, she told him they were going to drop him home, but they ended up on an industrial estate, where Amy dragged the unconscious sex pest from the car and taped his mouth, planning to leave him there.
But Aadi told his friend they had to get Dan to a hospital as he could die, before reminding her that the man was not Aaron, and that killing him wouldn’t make her feel any better after what had happened.
Amy saw sense and the pair took Dan to hospital, where a nurse raced over and checked his pulse.
She told them: “His heart rate is dangerously low, he’s overdosed. The next few hours will be critical.”
Amy panicked about what she had got them into, while Coronation Street fans were shocked by the extent of her hurt, anger and frustration.
Taking to X – formerly Twitter – one wrote: “I get what Amy is doing but she could get herself arrested for this if she isn’t careful.”
Another added: “Amy’s going to be in serious trouble…”
A third tweeted: “Amy what are you doing??”
