According to Football Insider, Juventus’ 20-year-old forward Samuel Iling-Junior has emerged as a top target for Tottenham Hotspur ahead of the January transfer window.
The young English winger joined Juventus in 2020 from the Chelsea youth setup. He has made 22 appearances for the Juventus first team so far, scoring one goal and providing three assists in 671 minutes of football. (Transfermarkt)
Over the last week, Tottenham’s interest in Iling-Junior emerged with manager Ange Postecoglou said to be a huge fan of the 20-year-old winger. (The Independent)
It was then revealed that the Cobham graduate, who has a contract at Juventus until 2025, wants to leave the Italian giants in search of regular game time. (Il Bianconero)
Italian publication TuttoMercatoWeb subsequently claimed that the Italian giants were prepared for a January exit for Iling-Junior ever since interest from Tottenham Hotspur arrived.
Tottenham see ‘huge potential’ in Samuel Iling Junior
Football Insider have claimed that the Tottenham club chiefs view the former Chelsea youth product as a player with “huge potential”. The report goes on to add that Spurs are now hoping to tempt the 20-year-old with a prospective return to his homeland.
However, TEAMtalk recently revealed that if Samuel Iling-Junior is indeed available in the January market, Tottenham are likely to face competition from the likes of Aston Villa, Fulham and Everton.
Spurs Web Opinion
Tottenham are looking at a left-winger in the aftermath of injuries to Ivan Perisic, Richarlison and Manor Solomon who are all set to be out for significant periods.
Despite having Brennan Johnson and Bryan Gil, they could do with someone who can play on the left but also fill in on the right if required. Iling-Junior fits the bill.
Whilst the prospect of playing under a charismatic manager like Ange Postecoglou might be enticing for the 20-year-old, if he is leaving Juventus for “regular playing time”, he might prefer a move to the likes of Fulham or Everton over Tottenham or Aston Villa.
