Family’s heartbreaking message after girl, 19, killed in horror Cumbria crash with tree as Ford Fiesta driver is jailed
THE family of a teenager killed when a careless driver smashed into a tree say her death has “shattered” their lives.
Lana Maddison, 19, was a rear seat passenger when Joe Rowland careered off the road in a Ford Fiesta.
The car smashed into a tree near Keswick, Cumbria, on November 28, 2021.
Lana sadly died in hospital as a result of the injuries she sustained in the collision, on the December 3 that year.
Rowland was today sentenced to 10 months in prison, given a three year five month driving ban and an extended re test.
Following his sentencing, a victim impact statment from Lana’s mum read: “Since Lana’s tragic death our lives have been completely shattered, we are absolutely devastated by our loss, there is no colour in our lives anymore, just grey.
