Like many mums, Brandy Bradley was worried about using traditional traps and poisons in a home filled with kids.

Rather than use an exterminator though, the US woman found an natural way drive the rodents away with basic household ingredients.

Taking to TikTok, she then shared the nifty hack with her 3,000 followers and even showed herself pouring it into an old spray bottle – ready to be used throughout her house.

Her simple recipe only required white vinegar, water and the special ingredient: peppermint oil.

According to the influencer, mice hate this combination and it acts similar to ammonia spray – just without the hefty price tag.

Though she didn’t give the measurements, we recommend using 2 teaspoons of essential oil to every cup of diluted water you use.

You’ll then needs to simply spray the mix around your home every day, targeting areas where you’ve seen mice or spaces they can squeeze into.

With white vinegar starting from as little as £7 for 5 litres, you’ll be sure to rid your place of rodents in no time.

However, dog owners should be aware this essential oil can be poisonous to your beloved pooch.

Thankfully, there are plenty of other oils you can such as citronella – which will also prevent your pet from peeing in the area too.

Another simple way to make mice disappear includes having plants such as, lavender, daffodils and elderberry bushes near your home.

These plants act as a deterrent for any furry critters, although you’ll need to double check that they are pet-friendly before adding them to your garden.

Finally, you can fill any holes in the wall which should prevent mice from accessing your property in the first place.

All you need is a little caulk and steel wool to prevent them gnawing through the dry wall.

Of course, if you problem continues to get worse then you’ll need to seek expert advice from your local exterminator.

Thankfully, Brandy’s useful hack should stop you from having to hire anyone and save your pennies at the same time.

She isn’t the only influencer sharing how to put an end to the pest problem though.

In fact, one woman has shared how you can use a metallic scourer to stop mice from entering your home.

Rather than using it to plug gaps in the wall, user @jenscottwrites showed how she placed the household item near kitchen appliances in a bid to banish the mice.

“Apparently mice don’t like them so it’ll save you money on having to hire pest control, and it’s a little bit more humane as trust me you don’t want to have to wake up every single morning cleaning up dead mice from mice traps,” she told her followers.

With most corner shops selling steel scourers, you can easily pick them up if you suddenly find you have a pest problem.

Hopefully, Mickey is the only mouse you’ll have in your house now!
