Mill Valley church holds annual turkey distribution event

Pastor David Hall of Big God Ministries led an event Monday to distribute hundreds of turkeys to help Marin City families celebrate Thanksgiving.

The event is set to continue at Pickleweed Park in San Rafael on Tuesday. The Mill Valley church hopes to distribute at least 500 turkeys this year.

The annual charity event, fueled by community donations, has been happening for about 20 years.

The pastor’s wife, Denise Hall, said her husband, who is from Marin City, was inspired by his own upbringing.

“David grew up with little money,” she said. “He just loves to give back.”

Mill Valley resident Jean Mastagni, an event volunteer, said the giveaway is always a joyful one.

“I just love to go and help,” Mastagni said. “Some people will have nothing if someone like David is not giving them something.”

The church also hosts an annual toy drive in December.
