Residents in several sectors of Greater Noida took matters into their own hands and started cleaning their surroundings as the strike by sanitation workers entered its 15th day. The contract workers have been on strike since November 5, demanding increased salaries and bonuses. The Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA) hired private workers to collect garbage, but the service has been inconsistent. Residents are now facing accumulating filth and health hazards due to the strike. Some residents met with GNIDA officials to address the issue.
