Taraji P. Henson in Lace-Up Pumps, Fantasia in Dolce & Gabbana Platforms and More Shoe Moments at ‘The Color Purple’ London Photocall
A variety of stars from the main cast of the 2023 “The Color Purple” gathered for a photocall on Tuesday in London at Savoy Place. Attendees included Fantasia Barrino, Danielle Brooks, Blitz Bazawule, Taraji P. Henson, Colman Domingo and Corey Hawkins.
Taraji P. Henson stepped into a classic pair of suede pumps. The star’s shoes featured textural black suede uppers that transitioned into triangular knife-like pointed toes and thin winding ankle straps. The suede set sat atop thin 3 to 4-inch stiletto heels, giving Henson a subtle and sophisticated boost.
The neutral footwear accompanied a leopard-printed ensemble featuring yellow and gold accents. Henson plays Shug Avery in the film.
Fantasia Barrino, who plays Celie in the film, went sky-high for the photocall in a pair of shiny black platform heels from Dolce & Gabbana.
The lofty footwear, accompanied by light blue tights, featured patent glossy black leather uppers that transitioned into rounded toes and thin but sturdy ankle straps that were threaded through high-shine silver buckle closures in the shape of a D&G, securing the pair in place.
Barrino paired her platform footwear with a preppy plaid Sergio Hudson blazer dress, a Chanel clutch and a bright blue headband.
Danielle Brooks, who plays Sofia in the film, sported a pair of gold metallic sandals in a sky-high platform style. The high-shine set was comprised of glossy metallic uppers accompanied by thick crisscrossing and secure straps that sat overtop the thespian’s toes and around her ankles.
The shoes also featured thick and lofty platform soles and breathable peep-toes. The dazzling set was finished off with 5 to 6-inch block heels, offering the “Orange Is the New Black” actress a sky-high boost. Keeping cozy, Brooks was also outfitted in a bright orange midi-length sweater dress fitted with a hood.
Colman Domingo, who plays Albert “Mister” Johnson, sported a pair of white western-inspired ankle-length boots. The footwear features sleek leather uppers, black wedge heels and white stitching. Stylish and sleek, the “Rustin” actor paired his ankle boot with a gray tailored suit and gold accessories.
Similarly, Corey Hawkins, who plays Harpo Johnson, sported a pair of black leather utilitarian-inspired boots. The ankle-length style was fitted with silver hardware and included leather uppers, rounded toes and non-slip thick rubber tread. Matching his shoes, the “6 Underground” star was outfitted in an all-black tailored suit.
“The Color Purple” is a 2023 reimagined version of the 1985 film directed by Steven Spielberg. The film is directed by Blitz Bazawule and features a star-studded cast including the likes of Halle Bailey, Fantasia Barrino, Corey Hawkins, Danielle Brooks, Ciara, Taraji P. Henson and H.E.R., among others.
