Visual contact established with 41 trapped Indian workers after 9 days

In a breakthrough, rescue teams successfully threaded a six-inch-wide pipeline through the collapsed tunnel debris. After nine days since the tunnel collapse in northern India, authorities have now established visual contact with the 41 trapped construction workers.

Indian officials say that all these workers are in good health.

On Tuesday, Indian rescue teams successfully sent a camera into a tunnel where the workers were trapped.

Reuters reported that the voice of one of the rescuers can be heard asking the workers to introduce themselves individually in front of the camera.

In a 30-second video released by the authorities of this country, 12 workers are seen standing in a semi-circle in front of the camera.

These workers got trapped on the 13 of November when a part of the tunnel collapsed 200 meters from its entrance. They were inside a tunnel in the “Uttarakhand” state in the Himalayan region when they were working on constructing this tunnel.

The rescue operation for these workers had been halted on Friday due to concerns about tunnel collapse.

Indian officials have stated they are working on five other plans to get the workers out of this tunnel.
