Human remains in San Fernando Valley identified as missing Guatemalan man; suspect arrested
A 48-year-old man was arrested in North Hills on Tuesday on suspicion of killing a Guatemalan man who had gone missing in June after human remains were discovered at his residence, authorities said.
The human remains were found at a home in the 16200 block of Community Court between Woodley Avenue and Woodley Place on Tuesday, said Los Angeles Police Officer Angie Moran. The remains were unearthed under a structure near the rear of the property that had been removed, along with the concrete foundation.
It was not clear what led authorities to discover the remains.
The victim was identified on Wednesday as 35-year-old Carlos DeLeon, police said. DeLeon was reported missing in mid-June.
Russell Robinson, who lives at the residence, was arrested on Tuesday on suspicion of killing DeLeon and was being held without bail. A motive for the killing or the relationship between the two, if any, was not immediately available.
Anyone with information on the killing should contact Los Angeles Police Valley Bureau Homicide Detective Moselle at 818-374-9550.
