Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh reported the discovery of new poppy cultivation in Suangkuang under Singngat Sub Division (Churachandpur District) during a joint survey. Out of the five locations surveyed, only Suangkuang had new poppy cultivation, approximately 1 acre, which was promptly destroyed. This follows the destruction of 16 hectares of illicit poppy fields earlier in November as part of the state government's intensified efforts against illegal poppy cultivation, particularly in reserve and protected forests.
