Austin airport back to normal operations after suspicious item investigation

AUSTIN (KXAN) — Austin-Bergstrom International Aiport operations are back to normal Monday morning after police investigated a suspicious item, airport officials said.

The departures/upper level roadway at the airport closed for approximately an hour for the investigation. All departing passengers were diverted to the lower level/arrival area.

"The airport is secured and airport facilities are open," AUS officials said on social media.

Officials said to expect delays at ticketing counters as airlines work to get back to normal operations. All Transportation Security Administration (TSA) checkpoints are open, as well.

AUS projected 29,000 passengers to fly out of the airport Monday.
