Rescue operations at the Silkyara tunnel in Uttarkashi involve both vertical drilling by SJVNL and manual horizontal digging. SJVNL has drilled 36 out of 86 meters, facing obstacles like boulders and water, with ongoing dewatering efforts. Rat-hole miners will manually dig passages, aiming for a 12-meter evacuation. Alternative methods, including laying 1.2-meter-diameter pipes vertically, are being explored.
