SMU Game Thoughts
SMU (Southern Methodist University) is in the AAC (American Athletic Conference). SMU will be moving to a new conference, the ACC (Atlantic Coast Conference) on July 2024. This move to the ACC is highly publicized based upon the price in dollars that SMU paid and the negotiated deal on television rights needed for SMU to join the ACC. SMU primarily joined the ACC for football as basketball is a secondary sport, although important, at SMU.
SMU is located in Dallas, Texas. The game will be played on SMU's campus in Moody Coliseum. Moody Coliseum was built in 1956 and has 7,000 seats. Don't be confused, it is also called the David B. Miller Court. David B. Miller is a gigantic dollar donor to the school. SMU's campus is quite beautiful and has a classic rotunda building that is worth seeing.
SMU football is 10-2, this season. SMU football's next game is against Tulane at Tulane on Saturday.
The Dayton game will be played on a Wednesday night; so no conflict for SMU students who will follow the football team that plays on Saturday.

SMU is 5-2 with a win over West Virginia. Losses are to Texas A&M and Wisconsin. SMU is overall ranked at 124 and to picked to finish 6th in the AAC.
Based upon research of the last couple games, the starting five are constant. There are nine players getting approximately 10 minutes. The starters are: Zhuric Phelps 6'5" JR, Chuck Harris 6'4" SR, Samuel Williamson 6'8" GR, Keon Ambrose-Hilton 6'9" SR and BJ Edwards 6'3" SO. Others getting minutes are: Wright, 6'4", J. Smith 6'2", T. Smith 6'8" and Hudson 6'7". The roster also has Mo Njie, 6"11, 250 who played at Centerville, Ohio High School and Xavier Foster 7'0", 225. But neither Njie nor Foster are getting very many minutes.
