Mine waste can threaten sensitive ecosystems: Study

California [US], November 27 (ANI): According to a University of Queensland study, about one-third of the world's mine tailings are deposited within or near protected conservation areas.

According to a study led by UQ's Bora Aska from the Sustainable Minerals Institute and School of the Environment, these waste facilities pose a significant risk to some of the world's most valuable species and environments.
