A PROFESSIONAL janitor has shared how you can make your car windows shine like brand new – and it’s all thanks to a 5p hack.

Cleaning car windows is an essential part of a driver’s routine, as it not only makes for a nice drive but also significantly improves the visibility – and safety.

But if you like no amount of cleaning is removing the grime and dirt, keep reading, because one expert, school cleaner and TikTok user @cleanthatup, has come to rescue with one of his all-time favourite hacks.

According to the janitor, who has won almost 2million followers with his savvy tricks, the answer is simple, a bargain buy you can get from Amazon – the old favorite, WD-40.

Taking to TikTok, the whizz demonstrated how he uses the common household essential to tackle the messy windows, leaving no annoying streaks behind.

For this, you will simply need to spray some of the product onto a clean towel and wipe down the windshield wiper blades, he instructed in the video.

”What this does is clean the blade, kinda restors the rubber a bit,” the janitor explained.

”So it can make a nice connection with the glass, so it won’t leave those streaks behind.”

After revealing just how dirty the once-clean towel had become, the school cleaning whizz gave his car windows a good clean as you normally would – and they were gleaming with not a single streak or residue in sight.

Although dozens of social media users appreciated the hack, they warned that he had left out a crucial detail in the clip – you had to use a specific WD-40.

One pointed out: ”Wrong WD-40, you gotta use WD-40 silicone.”

”WD-40 swells rubber, never use on any rubber,” another advised.

Meanwhile, others raced to comments to share their favourite cleaning essentials – and one swore by a cupboard staple.

”I was told to use vinegar.”

”Use rubbing alcohol instead, my brother-in-law is a mechanic and his blades last at least two years,” someone else chimed in.

”Try soap and water,” a fellow car enthusiast reckoned.

WD-40 Silicone Lubricant Spray can be ordered online from Amazon, where it retails for around £8, as well as ScrewFix which sells a 400ml can for a little over £9.

According to the brand, the versatile product is perfect for a number of applications, including rubber parts (pipes, window seals, plumbing fittings, belts), metal, plastic, as well as wood – all without leaving stains.

What’s more, the bargain buy is also said to work in challenging conditions, maintaining effectiveness from -35°C to +200°C all-year round, extending tool life whilst at it.

According to the description online, the spray keeps tools and machines clean, conditioned, and functioning smoothly for longer periods – and the thousands of positive reviews only speak for themselves.

One said: ”My gaming chair was starting to squeak so I was looking for a reliable grease that would actually work. After a bit of research I found out WD-40 does a silicone lubricant that is perfect for metal applicants.

”Sprayed all the squeaky areas and after a few hours of rest my chair was squeak free!”

Another happy customer penned: ”I use this type of spray to lubricate my auto garage door runners and rails etc. Quietens the door making it run smoothly.

”Also used for a multitude of uses where a fine jet is required to reach; like wheel bearings on wheel barrows, bikes etc. Good protection for exposed rubber couplings etc. Excellent product.”
