The forecaster, 61, typically hosts the weather bulletins on BBC Breakfast from Monday to Thursday.
But on Monday’s show the star was nowhere to be seen, instead being replaced by Matt Taylor.
On Tuesday’s edition it was the same face again for fans as Matt, who is a seasoned Beeb weather presenter, stood in.
No explanation has been given for Carol’s absence from the show.
The author, who is usually active on social media sharing forecasts and images with fans, also hasn’t posted either.
Meanwhile, last week the BBC Breakfast studio was evacuated as a fire alarm rang out.
The programme had suddenly disappeared from screens in the middle of a news report.
Charlie Stayt and Naga Munchetty had been presenting from the iconic red sofa.
They crossed live to Bristol as BBC Breakfast marked 20 years since Concorde’s final ever flight.
But as their reporter toured the iconic aircraft and a VT played from its final flight, the show cutaway and crashed into BBC News.
After 15 minutes the show came back on air, with Naga saying: “You’re returning to BBC Breakfast.
“Apologies, we had an evacuation in the building but we are back now with you.”
