Golden State basketball is on the way! Come join our game thread and chat about tonight’s matchup here.

The Golden State Warriors will play the Sacramento Kings in Tuesday night’s In-Season Tournament Group Stage finale. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 PM PT in Sacramento and can be watched on TNT.

Previously with the Warriors:

It’s been four days since Golden State’s 118-112 victory over the San Antonio Spurs last Friday night. Stephen Curry was the team’s leading scorer with 35 points on 11-of-20 shooting from the field, including seven-made three-pointers. Dario Saric was right behind him with 20 points while chipping in seven rebounds. The highlight of the game, however, came from Gary Payton II, who soared in the air to reject the shot attempt of the Spurs’ seven-foot-four, number-one overall pick, Victor Wembanyama.

What to watch for tonight:

Tonight’s game against the Kings will determine who advances to the single elimination knockout round of the In-Season Tournament. If the Minnesota Timberwolves lose to the Oklahoma City Thunder, the winner of tonight’s Warriors-Kings game automatically advances to the next round. If the Timberwolves win, the Warriors would have to win the points differential tiebreaker over both Sacramento and Minnesota in order to advance.

Fortunately, the Warriors will be getting a much-needed reinforcement for tonight’s game as starting power forward Draymond Green returns from his five-game suspension. Green’s presence should significantly help Golden State, especially on the defensive end of the floor as they attempt to slow down Sacramento’s All-Star duo of De’Aaron Fox and Domantas Sabonis.

Fox and Sabonis lead the Kings in scoring with 29.9 and 19.9 points per game, respectively. Sabonis also leads the team in rebounds per game (12.3) and assists per game (7.0) as the big man remains the central hub who helps facilitate the Kings’ offense. Sacramento, however, could potentially be without their third leading scorer, Keegan Murray, who is doubtful for Tuesday’s game with a back injury.

Having said that, the Warriors still have Curry, who has a long history of big moments in the Golden 1 Center. During last postseason’s Game 7 matchup, Curry went nuclear for 50-points, carrying Golden State to a series-clinching victory. Earlier in the year, Curry hit the game-winning three for a dramatic 116-115 victory, albeit during the preseason. It’s safe to say, Curry relishes these moments in Sacramento.

It should be a fun game. Enjoy the basketball Dub Nation. GO WARRIORS!!!
