By Wednesday morning, the D.C. region will continue to feel this widespread cold snap.
In D.C., Mayor Muriel Bowser activated the city’s first Cold Weather Emergency Alert of the season Tuesday, noting that the overnight drop in temperature into the teens leaves residents experiencing homelessness and those with disabilities or other functional needs the most susceptible to the weather.
Residents are encouraged to stay warm and to call 311 or the Shelter Hotline at 202-399-7093 to request accessible shelter transportation, according to a news release from the mayor’s office.
Make sure you’re bundled up if you need to be outside tomorrow as “feels like” temperatures will dip down into the single digits, according to 7News First Alert Meteorologist Steve Rudin.
Wind gusts will keep the air moving as temperatures trend warmer into the 30s for Thursday.
Looking forward to Friday and the weekend, our area will see clouds and rain.
FORECAST
WEDNESDAY:
Mostly sunny. Breezy
Highs: 35-45
Winds: Southwest 5-15, Gusts 20 mph
Wake-up temperatures early Wednesday are expected to be the coldest, possibly reaching the lowest point since Feb. 25 of this year. Plan for frigid temperatures in the teens and 20s. Afternoon highs will remain below average, but a southerly wind will help temperatures climb back into the 40s.
THURSDAY:
Mostly sunny
Highs: 50s
Winds: Southwest 5-10 mph
Thursday brings a day that is not windy. The DMV will experience a delightful combination of ample sunshine, a comfortable southwesterly breeze, and temperatures reaching the 50s. Temperatures in the mountains will be cooler in the afternoon, with readings mainly in the 40s.
FRIDAY AND THE WEEKEND:
Friday marks the start of December. It also marks the beginning of meteorological winter for us, and summer in the southern hemisphere. Clouds will build throughout the day along with increasing wet weather chances. A few showers will dot radar during the evening and perhaps overnight and into early Saturday morning. Highs in the 50s will be closer to normal for this time of year. Saturday is trending dry during the afternoon with another round of wet weather by evening and into Sunday.
