Woman divides the internet by saying you should WASH Christmas tree before decorating it -but people spot her mistake
FEEL overwhelmed by the amount of tasks piling up this festive season, with presents to buy, dinner to cook and guests to entertain?
Well, one woman has added another thing to the list and has divided the internet with her bizarre and controversial suggestion that you need to wash your Christmas tree before decorating it each year.
Rhema put her Christmas tree in the bath and and scrubbed it down[/caption] The water for Rhema’s Christmas tree bath was completely clear[/caption]Rhema shared the unusual Christmas activity via a video on her TikTok channel, where she is known as @rhema.br.
Opening the video, she said: “Unpopular opinion, you need to clean your Christmas tree”.
Rhema then dragged her enormous plastic tree into the bath and sprayed it with surface cleaner, before filling the bath up and squeezing in some washing up liquid.
After giving the tree a scrub, the woman showed a clip of the bath water going down the drain.
Unsurprisingly, the water was completely clean , save for a few of the tree’s bristles which had fallen off during the wash.
The woman then put together her newly gleaming Christmas tree, and prepared it for decoration.
TikTok users flooded to the video’s comments section to show share their opinions on Rhema’s cleaning habit, with many people suggesting that it is completely unnecessary.
One user said: “The water being clear told me I don’t need to do this.”
Another added: “There’s a reason we store it in a giant plastic bag! No dust, no dirt.”
One person even suggested that cleaning the tree could damage it.
They said: “Seems like this may lead to mildew/mould depending on the type of tree.”
However, some people did rush to defend Rhema.
One person said: “Well I agree with this. Everything should be cleaned before we put it inside the house.”
Another added: “This is something I would do….. cleaning is so satisfying….”
