Justin Robinson Returns!
This is really great news
Justin Robinson may have been the most rewarding Blue Devil to watch, at least until the very end.
He came to Duke as a walk-on and the son of NBA legend David Robinson, and while he didn’t play much, he had an immediate impact on the team due to his remarkable character.
In his last semester, Robinson began to contribute and was on the verge of having a huge impact on the floor - and Covid hit.
Covid had bigger issues than playing time or a canceled season, but after all the work Robinson put in, it was a real shame.
He’s been playing overseas and was in Israel when Hamas terrorist attacks on October 7th and, again, the season ended prematurely.
Obviously there are bigger issues than basketball, but Robinson has a tough time catching a break hoop-wise.
However, this time it may turn into an opportunity.
Jon Scheyer has brought him back to Duke as the director of player development and he’ll be great. He was basically doing that as a player anyway.
And when a position opens, he’ll be an ideal candidate to become an assistant.
