Unique menu of ‘world’s most remote McDonald’s’ – the only one on paradise island that’s 770 miles from nearest branch
THE “world’s most remote McDonald’s” is 770 miles from the nearest branch and has a unique and enticing menu.
While the popular chain is a restaurant that most of us take for granted this is not the case for the residents of Samoa.
The restaurant is the only one on the Island meaning some locals have yet to try its special menu – which features an incredible McAiga Meal for £38.
The nearest McDonald’s on the map to the paradise Island eatery is located in Fiji – a two hour flight away.
The restaurants are in such short supply that once Islanders get a taste for the fast food they just can’t get enough.
And, when the Samoan rugby team visited the UK for the world cup their McDonald’s cravings became so uncontrollable that they were banned from eating there.
One player said: “All I can see are the fast food restaurants across the road (but) coach barred us from there.”
Despite the remote restaurant being part of a much larger chain it has still put its own spin on the menu.
It has three special deals called the Buddy Meal, Breakfast Buddy Meal, McAiga Meal.
The Buddy meal is a combination of the classic Big Mac meal and the Tasty Double Filet Burger meal and is up for grabs for just £15.
They have also designed a bespoke Breakfast buddy meal that consists of two large egg and cheese McMuffins, two hot drinks and two hash browns for just £12.
And the cherry on the top is their mega MCAiga Meal – a £38 feast of two Medium Big Macs, two Small Quarter Pounders, two Double Cheese Burgers two Chicken Nuggets, all with fries!
Despite being located on a remote Island the restaurant still draws in sufficient income and is a hit with locals and tourists alike.
One excited diner wrote a five star review and said: “Amazing to find the Maccas in Samoa has an American menu with American ingredients, bloody fantastic! and worth a visit or three!”
“There are not many choices of places to eat around here, so this fast food spot works. Reliable quality and low prices,” said another.
The restaurant is a cherished part of Island life, so much so that it even sponsored the Samoa Pacific games team in 2019 and donated a whopping £157,555.
The agreement was welcomed by Loau Solamalemalo Keneti Sio, chair of the Samoa 2019 Pacific Games Committee.
He offered the Samoan Government’s gratitude to the fast food giants for their support of the multi-sport event.
“On behalf of the Government of Samoa and the Management of the Pacific Games Office, I would like to convey our sincerest gratitude to the management of McDonald’s Family Restaurant, one of the most renowned fast food restaurants in the world,” he said.
This is not the only time McDonald’s has been in the news lately.
