Laura Anderson hits back at mum-shamers begging them to ‘stop’ after she was cruelly trolled over ‘sunburnt baby’
LAURA Anderson has hit back at cruel mum-shamers and begged them to “stop being negative” after she was accused of letting her baby get sunburn on her first holiday.
The Love Island star, who welcomed daughter Bonnie with Hollyoaks actor Gary Lucy in September, said she appreciates fans sharing mum advice but said some people need to censor their “delivery”.
Laura, 34, jetted off to Dubai with her daughter Bonnie and soaked up the sunshine on the beach, but some trolls accused Laura of not protecting her daughter from the sun.
Speaking exclusively to The Sun, Laura addressed the mum-shaming she had received and said: “I think it’s few and far between – I think sometimes people can pick up on it and focus on the negative.”
She continued: “I think since becoming a mum, my social media space has become more positive and I can resonate with mums and talking about real stuff.
“I get so many DMs on the daily about silly little daily things and it means so much to engage with my community.
“But it’s all about the delivery, it’s all about how you say it.”
The Scottish star went on: “But I think people messaging me saying ‘I’m not being mean, but just to let you know’ and I appreciate that. It could be sound advice that I wouldn’t have known.”
Laura said she was embracing motherhood and had taken to it well but with a few challenges along the way.
She told us at the Beauty Awards: “Life has changed, everything has changed – the best part of being a mum is seeing her smile, every time she smiles at me, she’s got a beautiful, cheeky smile and I feel like she’s been here before…I just think what is she thinking.
“I’m now used to getting up at 3am and feeding now.
“The sleep deprivation is the biggest challenge – you have to be so selfless.
“She eats before me, she goes to the toilet before me, she sleeps before me, everything is about her. I’m on auto-pilot, a bit of sleep deprivation is probably the hardest.
“I want to secure a bit more of a routine and work life, which I’m hoping to do in January based in Scotland.”
The former air hostess is used to travelling around the world and admitted she wouldn’t rule out a move to “second home” Dubai, where she lived for 10 years.
She added: “I just took Bonnie to meet her auntie in Dubai, you never know in the future. I do love it there, I spent 10 years of my life there.
“I go all the time and see my sister. It’s always like a second home.”
It comes after Laura shared a selection of snaps of her holding Bonnie last week, who was wearing sunglasses and an adorable hat in the shade.
While most fans were positive, several said her daughter looked red.
“Face looks red on baby but nice shot enjoy,” one wrote.
In since-deleted comments, other mum-shamers also commented on the colour of Bonnie’s skin.
Laura, 34, and Hollyoaks actor Gary Lucy, 41, welcomed their baby girl to the world after being in an on/off relationship since 2022.
Just days before Laura gave birth it was revealed that the couple had reunited, and she later dropped a clue to confirm they’re an item again.
But after sharing the news of Bonnie’s birth, Laura asked her fans not to ask questions about her relationship with Gary.
