BBC star gets second series of his travelogue show and will head to part of world close to his heart
CLIVE MYRIE is to get a second series of his Roadtrip travelogues next year.
They debuted with the journalist exploring one of his favourite countries, Italy, on BBC Two in May.
Now Clive, who also hosts Mastermind, will be heading to the Caribbean, a part of the world close to his heart as his parents came from Jamaica.
A TV insider said: “The first series proved so popular that doing a second was a no-brainer — and could lead to even more in the future.
“Clive has become a bit of a national treasure with his soothing style on the news, contrasting with a more fun, endearing side of him displayed on his road trips.
“Italy was somewhere he has always loved, having holidayed there on numerous occasions, but his visit to the Caribbean will have a more personal feel to it.”
His Italian travels aired in May and saw him head between Lazio, Florence and Capri.
Clive said at the time: “I hope viewers enjoy this road trip as much as I have and fall in love with Italy, a place that captured my heart many years ago.
“It really is one of my favourite holiday destinations.”
Fortunately, the new travel series will see him jet off to somewhere that’s even hotter and sunnier.
But after bravely presenting the BBC News from war zones around the world, I really think Clive deserves a bit of an easier ride.
Pretty in pink
SKATING star Vanessa Bauer shows she can deliver a dazzling twirl whether she’s on or off a rink.
The Dancing on Ice pro looked sensational as she took to the red carpet for the premiere of hit movie, Wonka, in Central London on Tuesday night.
But turning up in a baby pink dress meant she did look like she was turning up for a Disney princess movie debut rather than the adaptation of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
She still looked sweet though.
Golden gang to shine
THE BBC have certainly struck gold with their surprise hit crime thriller series.
As I revealed this spring, BBC One show The Gold will be back for more, this time looking at ALL of the crooks involved in the £26million Brink’s-Mat gold heist of 1983.
Sienna Rose and Dominic Cooper in The Gold[/caption]Following the success of the first series, Hugh Bonneville, Emun Elliott and Charlotte Spencer will return as police detectives Brian Boyce, Tony Brightwell and Nicki Jennings.
Alongside a host of new faces, Tom Cullen and Stefanie Martini reprise their roles as one of the heist’s criminals and his wife.
Sam Spruell also makes his comeback as Charlie Miller, seen sunbathing in the first series’ final episode.
The series will follow the detective’s attempts to hunt down the rest of the stolen money, which is caught up in money laundering and organised crime.
Filming for the new series begins in January, and episodes are expected to air later in 2024.
Traitors is taking the mic
FANS of The Traitors are now counting down the weeks until they get a long-awaited second outing of their favourite treacherous reality TV show.
But I can reveal they’ll be getting a double helping when it does drop in January on BBC1.
As well as the main show with Claudia Winkleman returning as host, there’ll also be a spin-off podcast taking an in-depth look at all the events on the new series.
Each episode will see celebrity superfans of the hit show deep-dive into the world of betrayal, treachery and double crossing.
Every bit of the podcast, which will be available on BBC Sounds, will also be filmed for TV.
Caroline tribute
THE BBC will celebrate the life of Caroline Aherne with a new documentary deep diving into her career.
Caroline Aherne: Comedy Queen features previously unseen photographs and contributions from those who worked closely with the actress, who died in 2016 aged 52.

Steve Coogan, Jon Thompson, Sue Johnston and producer Andy Harries will also feature in the special.
The film is one of three new additions to the BBC’s Arena series, which will also celebrate Noel Coward and Kae Temest.
Caroline Aherne: Comedy Queen will air on BBC Two.
Back with family
CHLOE MADELEY is moving ahead with plans for a second series of her ITV show A Family Affair.
I exclusively revealed last week there were discussions about a follow-up to the first outing, which followed her and husband James Haskell as they raised their 15-month-old daughter Bodhi.
But the sequel would be quite a bit different – because the couple have now split up and it is expected to focus on them adapting to co-parenting.
I can reveal that former England rugby player James is on board with the project too, and it is even likely to feature Chloe’s famous parents, Richard Madeley and Judy Finnigan.
Perhaps this time it should be called Even More of A Family Affair.
