Man arrested after alleged San Jose road rage incident leaves dog ‘traumatized’ with eye injury

0

SAN JOSE — San Jose police arrested a man last week that they say was responsible for shattering glass in a road rage incident that led to “critical injuries” for a dog.

The incident occurred on Nov. 11, when two men initiated a road rage incident at the intersection of Capitol Expressway and Tully Road, according to authorities. As captured on video, they exited their vehicle and appeared to be engaging with the victims’ car when a third man exited his vehicle, jumped onto the victims’ car and smashed the rear windshield.

The victims’ vehicle contained a man and a woman, along with two dogs in the backseat. Some shards of glass from the rear windshield entered one of the dog’s eyes, requiring emergency medical care.

Police said on Wednesday that the dog’s condition has improved but it was “traumatized” and having some remaining eye issues, but was expected to make a full recovery.

San Jose police later identified the suspect that jumped on the rear windshield and arrested him on Nov. 22 on suspicion of felony vandalism, battery and animal abuse.

Anyone with information on this investigation is urged to contact Detective Martinez #4533 of the San Jose Police Department’s Assaults Unit at 4533@sanjoseca.gov or 408-277-4161.
