Lenny Kravitz Reflects on Past Infidelities, Desire for Marriage
Lenny Kravitz was married to former Cosby Show actress Lisa Bonet for just four years before they separated, welcoming daughter Zoë Kravitz during the course of their union. And although Kravitz has been in some high-profile relationships since he and Bonet parted ways—and was even briefly engaged to Brazilian model Adriana Lima and actress Nicole Kidman—he's never remarried or had any more children.
However, at 59, the "Are You Gonna Go My Way" singer isn't ruling it out. In a wide-ranging new Esquire profile, Kravitz admits to his past shortcomings in romantic relationships, particularly when it comes to infidelity.
"I put some people through some hard times," he conceded. In particular, he says he's struggled in the past with "being confident that this is the person for me, always thinking something else may be better."
After years of "hardcore" work though, Kravitz, who is currently single, says he's now in a place where he'd consider marriage. "The desire has always been there," he said of his past relationships. “The tools in which to do so have not always been there."
"Absolutely. I’ve grown enough. I’ve become stronger," he said on the possibility of marriage. "I’ve become more disciplined. I’ve become more open to be able to do so. But it’s been a very difficult thing for me to figure out."
And while he hasn't come close to having any more children, he likewise says he'd be open to that as well, with the right partner. "I could not, and I could,” he explained. “If it doesn’t happen, I’ve done the best with Zoë that I could ever dream to do. If I was with somebody that wanted to have kids, absolutely. A hundred percent."
But even if Kravitz doesn't have any more children, he mentioned that he's close with Bonet's two children with her second husband Jason Momoa, whom she separated with in 2022. The couple share two children, daughter Lola Iolani was born in 2007 and son Nakoa-Wolf Manakauapo Namakaeha born in 2008, who both call Kravitz "Uncle Lenny."
"I wouldn’t think of it as this heroic feat," he said of his close relationship with Bonet, her ex, and their children, all of whom he considers family. "This is just normal to me."
