House Speaker Mike Johnson to keynote hardcore Christian nationalist group's gala: reports
The new House Speaker who has become known as "MAGA Mike" Johnson will speak to a Christian nationalist gala alongside an anti-LGBTQ activist who advocates for the death penalty for gay sex, according to reports.
Jason Rapert, The founder of the National Association of Christian Lawmakers, posted on Facebook that Johnson is scheduled to be its keynote speaker at a gala on Dec. 5.
The group's website states its agenda of “abolishing abortion,” supporting “marriage between one man and one woman,” and “exposing the ungodly effort to undermine our culture by Leftists," Rolling Stone reported.
In widely shared videos, including those posted by activist group Right Wing Watch, Rapert advocates for is the overthrow of the American government because Christians "must take authority" at every level.
The Christian nationalist group believes in a far-right ideology that would impose biblical rules on society.

"When the National Association of Christian Lawmakers held a meeting earlier this year, participants used it as an opportunity to discuss plans to strip public libraries of their funding, convince states to designate June as 'Christian History Month,' and defend the practice of imposing 'the death penalty for sodomy,'" said Right Wing Watch.
