Black Lives Matter quickly smashes Trump's claim of endorsement

The Black Lives Matter Rhode Island PAC did not endorse Donald Trump, it said in a tweet on Wednesday.

The former president had celebrated what he called was the group's backing earlier in the day after activist — a co-founder of the movement — Mark Fisher told Fox he was supporting him.

He went on to attack Democrats, saying Trump is more honest about where he stands with people of color while Democrats will "stab you in the back."

"Spoke with Mark Fisher yesterday," Trump posted on Truth Social. "A great guy, very honored to have his and BLM’s support."

As it turns out, Fisher has no role in the BLM group, the organization said.

"In response to recent media coverage, we would like to clarify that Mark Fisher is not and has never been affiliated with our organization," said a statement from the Rhode Island group.

"The views expressed by Mr. Fisher in the referenced Fox News segment do not reflect the values or beliefs of BLM RH PAC."

In a second tweet, the group wrote, "We would like to emphasize that Mark Fisher claims association with Black Lives Matter Rhode Island, a non profit organization. Any statements or actions attributed to him should not be conflated with our organization."

Fox touted Fisher on their show this week and Trump followed by posting the interview to his Truth Social account. He thanked BLM for their support despite attacking the group for years.
