Linlithgow P7 vs Falkirk – 26/11
It was touch and go if the game was to go ahead or not but after confirmation from Falkirk following their pitch inspection, it was full steam ahead. A cold morning for sure for everyone but the Red’s powered on and certainly showed some determination and teamwork throughout the 4 games.
GAME 1
The start of the match saw lots of excellent defence from Falkirk and despite them trying furiously to keep the Reds away from the try line, the first try came from the Reds and was scored by Jay. We then next had an excellent tackle by Max and offload to Callum where he managed to run just about the full length of the pitch resulting in the 2nd try of the match for the Red’s. Nathan made a great run next and was assisted by Finlay H, however he just missed the try with the ball going out of touch. This then led on to a scrum for Falkirk but an eventual end result to the Red’s of 2-0 with some great defence and offloading overall.
GAME 2
This game saw some great teamwork with the first try coming from Logie being assisted by Jack. Brodie did a power of speed work during this game and had a great run but unfortunately just short of the try line and was overturned by Falkirk which resulted in the first try for Falkirk making things 1 all. Logie then managed to get a great tackle in which resulted in the Red’s gaining possession and a try for Abbie meaning the Red’s were back ahead @ 2-1. This was short lived as Falkirk then got a quick try in bringing things back to equal. Brodie managed another fantastic run and scored the 3rd try for the Red’s bringing them back ahead, again this was short lived with Falkirk equalizing again. Not to be deterred, Logie was determined and scored a further try for the Red’s bringing them to 4-3. Falkirk pushed on and again managed to equalize but this was not to be for long with a further try for the Red’s from Finlay. Great run in from Brodie but Falkirk were on the defence and put in a great tackle just short of the try line to overturn ad get a try. Some fantastic passing and team work resulted in the Red’s getting the try from Brodie and ending in a 5-4 win.
GAME 3
This game saw a very quick first try from Rory with some great tackling from Callum. There was lots of fantastic defence and quick ball work in this match. We soon saw a Falkirk scrum which was taken by the Red’s. Great teamwork with Nathan and Finlay on the wing resulted in 3 trys for the reds from Nathan and Finlay in quick succession. Falkirk then were keen to defend and retain possession. A fantastic tackle from Joe overturned the ball and the Red’s were back in possession but unfortunately resulted in a knock on and another Falkirk scrum. Brilliant defence followed from the Red’s and a fantastic run from Rory and great offload to Archie but unfortunately the Red’s lost possession and another Falkirk scrum but the reds again managed to win it. Quick fire play resulted in a further two trys for Rory and Nathan resulting in a final score of 7-0
GAME 4
The final game saw some exceptional tackling by both Finlay and Logie with an absolute smasher of a tackle from Finlay to gain possession. Good defence and team playing resulted in an excellent match all round. A quick Falkirk line out might have seen the Red’s behind but that wasn’t to be when we got the first try in from Brodie. Falkirk were then quick off the mark and got very near the try line but a great kick from Logie got the ball away from the opposition. Only for a short period though as the second try came from Falkirk to equalize. Determination from Logie resulted in an exceptional run but an unfortunate no try as Falkirk overturned and took the steal. Too close to do anything as tie was ticking, or so we thought! The Red’s powered on and got in another try from Finlay to put them back in the lead with the final score of the game 2-1.
