Two workers from Assam's Kokrajhar district, Ram Prasad Narzary and Sanjay Basumatary, were rescued after being trapped for 17 days inside a collapsed tunnel. They survived by consuming puffed rice and popcorn that would often get mixed with soil when sent through oxygen-carrying pipes. The rescue operation gained momentum and the workers received good food in packets sent inside the tunnel. Relatives of the rescued workers confirmed that they are fit and free from injury. The workers are now being brought to Rishikesh for another health check-up in choppers.
