Davies vs Barroso postponed due to visa issues
Floyd Schofield vs Ricardo Lopez Torres will serve as the new co-feature
Saturday’s DAZN main event between Ryan Garcia and Oscar Duarte was already doing a lot of heavy lifting, but now its burden is a fair bit heavier, as Oscar De La Hoya announced on Twitter that the co-feature between Ohara Davies and Ismael Barroso is postponed due to visa issues.
Floyd Schofield vs Ricardo Lopez Torres will take its place in the lineup.
Davies (25-2, 18 KO) and Barroso (24-4-2, 22 KO) were set to square off for the interim WBA title, which would guarantee the winner a crack at injured champion Rolly Romero. Barroso was famously on the wrong end of 2023’s worst stoppage this past May after schooling Romero for much of their fight, while Davies used nasty body shots to beat down Lewis Ritson in an eliminator this past May.
Hopefully the powers-that-be can sort this out quickly, both because Barroso deserves another shot at gold and because it figured to be an entertaining scrap between Barroso’s southpaw slugging and Davies’ awkward but powerful assault.
