I’m a Celeb feud escalates as Nella Rose and Nigel Farage clash again over ‘cultural appropriation’ row
NELLA Rose and Nigel Farage’s row rumbled on last night following his comments on cultural appropriation.
The pair first came to blows earlier in the week and last night the GB News presenter, 59, tried to clear the air – but didn’t get very far.
When he asked if she was upset, Nella, 26, told him “I just feel like you were very dismissive about cultural appropriation yesterday… you kind of made a joke of it.”
She added: “Like I said to you a couple of days ago, you are always going to have your opinions and I’m always going to have my opinions and we can agree to disagree.
“But let’s just not be the best of buds, because clearly we’re just from two different sides of the world and you’ll never understand my issues and struggles.”
Cultural appropriation is when someone adopts certain elements of another culture that is not their own.
These can include ideas, symbols, practices or symbols, removed from their original context.
On Tuesday’s episode, the campmates were talking about cultural appropriation and the Jamaican patois pronunciation of water and Nigel said: “If a white person does a black accent, that’s considered to be a crime.”
The Youtuber asked Nigel to explain what he meant, to which he said: “If a white person does a black accent, that’s considered to be a crime. That they should be cancelled.”
Nella responded: “It depends on what context, if you’re taking the piss, then you’re taking the piss, but if you’re not then you’re not.”
Nigel then said it was “can’t win territory”.
He went on: “If you go to a fancy dress party and dress as something and now the press will say it’s cultural appropriation… dress as a Mexican or whatever it is.”
Following the disagreement, Nella told the camera: “When Nigel was speaking about the cultural appropriation, I was just so disappointed in him, because we’ve been getting along so well and vibing, and I was honestly saddened and disappointed about that.”
Nella had previously questioned Nigel asking: “Why don’t black people like you?”
An argument erupted on their feelings towards immigration before they agreed to move on.
She also had a huge row with Fred Sirieix after he remarked that he was old enough to be her father.
Nella, who has lost both her parents, did not say anything at the time but later confronted Fred, saying: “Don’t bring up my dead parents, are you stupid?”
She said she no longer wanted to speak to him and would not eat any food he has prepared.
The conflict led to nearly 900 Ofcom complaints.
