Love Island stars secretly split after four-month romance but are battling to save their relationship
LOVE Island stars Ella Thomas and Tyrique Hyde had reportedly split four months after leaving the villa.
The couple, who found love on the summer series of the ITV2 dating show, are said to have secretly called time on their relationship.
But they have since decided to give their romance another go and have got back together in recent weeks.
The pair are currently trying to navigate a long distance relationship, with Ella, 23, living in Scotland while Tyrique, 24, remains in Essex.
Now, insiders have said that the pair are hoping to “make it work” but admitted that “the romance currently hangs by a thread.”
“Ella and Ty split in secret but got back together and it’s been like that for a few weeks now, they are very on and off,” they told the Mail Online.
“Viewers saw how the dynamic between them can often be fiery and it’s been no different since they left Love Island.
“This is the first time Ty has been in a relationship and often Ella can feel let down… she expects a lot from him, and he hasn’t been delivering.
“Then there’s the distance, Ella still lives in Scotland and Ty is in Essex with his family so spending quality time with each other can be tricky.
“Ella has also been travelling back and forth to Los Angeles thanks to her modelling work and ambassador deal with PrettyLittleThing.
“They’re trying everything they can to make it work but the romance currently hangs by a thread.”
The Sun have approached Ella and Tyrique’s reps for comment.
It comes not long after Ella has revealed how life outside the villa hasn’t affected their relationship.
She added: “Since coming out, It is a lot, people feel like they know you, everyone has an opinion, sometimes they think they’re in your relationship with you.
“But, I’ve had a lot more of a positive response than negative. I’ve not had a lot of negativity around me at all, I’ve been quite lucky that way.
“I’m adjusting to the life, it’s been an absolute whirlwind and I’ve been super busy since getting out.
“It’s just getting used to it really.”
The pair won over the hearts of the nation with their rocky love story on the popular dating show.
They finished third place in the competition.
