After Lindsay and Terry collectively brought back £14,000 on the ITV show, it was Beth’s turn to face the Chaser. She bagged six grand in the cash builder round and decided to stick with that when she went head to head against Jenny, 41.
However, it was not an easy round for the biochemistry student.
Three spaces from home, with one space between her and the Chaser, Beth was faced with the question: “How many years apart were Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers nominated for Oscars?”
Her possible answers were either four years, 14 years, or 34 years.
After reading them out, host Bradley Walsh made a comment about Beth’s young age as she looked stumped by the question.
The 63-year-old asked her: “How old are you? killer question, that isn’t it? It’s a killer question.”
As the contestant revealed she was 23 years old, and had no idea what the correct answer was, she decided to go for four.
While she got the question wrong, the Vixen got it right, moving her to the space behind Beth.
Beth successfully held her own for one more question, but her time on the show was ultimately cut short when she picked the wrong answer a question about Guy Pearce.
The science student made her own comment that she’d never heard of anyone in the question, prompting fans to go into a rage on her behalf. Viewers at home thought the questions Beth was given were “fixed” so she couldn’t possibly get through.
Taking to X, formerly Twitter, one viewer fumed: “Fixed by the show. Poor Beth had no chance.”
“The questions were all before her time!” another added.
“All the questions for Jenny are weighted to things they know she knows,” commented a third viewer.
While a fourth agreed: “Poor Beth got some sh***y questions there.”
Beth was hoping to use the money to take her best friend away for a holiday to Tenerife, but after those tricky questions, she left with nothing.
