'This will haunt them!' George Santos hints at revenge as colleagues push to expel him

Embattled Rep. George Santos (R-NY) melted down outside the U.S. Capitol as the House prepares to vote on a third resolution to expel him from Congress over findings by the Ethics Committee that he almost certainly violated federal law.

The first-term New York Republican held a news conference Thursday morning to lash out at his congressional colleagues, saying efforts to remove him from his seat were a "waste" of time and would eventually be their "undoing," reported CBS News.

"This will haunt them in the future where mere allegations are sufficient to have members removed from Congress when duly elected by their people," Santos said.

Santos has been indicted on nearly two dozen federal charges and has admitted to fabricating much of his background, and the House Ethics Committee issued a report this month that found "overwhelming evidence" that he had stolen campaign money from donors and used those funds for personal expenses, but he refuses to step down.

"This is bullying," Santos said of expulsion threats. "It's all theater. It's theater for the cameras. It's theater for the microphones and theater for the American people."
