How to save on your next supermarket shop
Besides finding Christmas price bargains there are other ways to save on your weekly supermarket shop.
Always look out for yellow and red stickers which usually indicate that an item has been reduced in price.
Supermarkets usually reduce items that are about to go out of date so you will want to consume them quickly or freeze them.
Always make a list and stick to it so you avoid being tempted to pick anything up.
Shopping for supermarket brands can help you save money in stores.
Look for “own” or “value” listed products instead of “finest” or “luxury” lines.
Plenty of supermarkets run wonky veg and fruit schemes as well where you can get cheap prices if they’re misshapen or imperfect.
For example, Lidl runs its Waste Not scheme offering boxes of 5kg of fruit and vegetables for just £1.50.
