Chiefs’ Patrick Mahomes Fired Up to Play at ‘Hostile’ Lambeau Field for First Time
It feels like Patrick Mahomes has already had his way on every NFL field throughout his young career, but he has never played at the iconic Lambeau Field—until this week. For the first time in his career, the Chiefs signal-caller will play at the Packers’ home stadium and admits he’s looking forward to the Sunday Night Football matchup.
“I’m extremely excited for it,” Mahomes said during a Wednesday press conference. “I’ve watched it my whole entire life, and I know it’s going to be a hostile environment; the fans are going to be loud, it’s going to be a lot like Arrowhead is to other teams like you’re saying.
“But I’m excited, if you love football, you love Lambeau Field,” he continued. “I’m excited to get the opportunity to play there.”
The Chiefs have played the Packers at Lambeau several times in the preseason during Mahomes’s career, but he has never appeared in a game. The one time Kansas City did travel to Green Bay for a regular season game was in 2019, but Mahomes was unable to play due to a knee injury.
Kick-off at Lambeau Field is set for 8:20 p.m. ET Sunday on NBC.
