As Gerry Turner's love story comes to an end, fans are eager for a 'Golden Bachelorette' next — here's what we know about the potential spinoff

  • Fans of "The Golden Bachelor" are wondering if there'll be a "Golden Bachelorette."
  • While ABC hasn't announced anything officially, a spinoff in the near future seems likely.
  • Here's what we could piece together about the status of "The Golden Bachelorette."

Golden Bachelor Gerry Turner won hearts across the country with his genuine and kindhearted approach to finding love, and fans of "The Golden Bachelor" will likely be wondering if they'll be able to watch a woman in her golden years embark on the same experience.

ABC has yet to officially announce a "Golden Bachelorette" spinoff, but our guess is that it's coming. "The Golden Bachelor" was a much-needed breath of fresh air in the franchise, and it'd be silly for the network to pass up another opportunity for viewers to watch septuagenarians find love.

In addition, numerous figures close to the show — including host Jesse Palmer, and Gerry himself — have expressed support for "The Golden Bachelorette."

Here's what we could piece together about whether or not "The Golden Bachelorette" is happening.

Gerry said he's absolutely in favor of 'Golden Bachelorette' happening

"I have no say in it, just to be clear, but I think it would be exciting because it's going to continue the theme that we've started of being hopeful and being visible at our age," Gerry told People during an interview after the "Women Tell All" taping in early November.

According to the reality star, all of the women on his season would be worthy of becoming the Golden Bachelorette.

"Each one of them has a certain personality that would make a show interesting, and charm, and they're all intelligent, so there's no bad choice," he said.

The women from Gerry's season of 'The Golden Bachelor' said they'd be ready to take on a leading role as well

While most leads of "The Bachelor" and "The Bachelorette" are cast from previous seasons' contestants, it's unclear whether or not "The Golden Bachelorette," if it happens, would follow the same pattern.

Regardless, some of the women from Gerry's season told Business Insider during interviews after the "Women Tell All" taping that they'd be interested in starring on "The Golden Bachelorette."

"I think all of us would like that job," fan favorite (and meatball queen) Susan Noles said.

"I also wouldn't hate more than one Bachelorette. I think that we'd be good together. I mean, it's obvious that we're very supportive of each other and there's no animosity when something great happens to each other," Joan Vassos added.

Sandra Mason noted that she'd be interested in the position, and Kathy Swarts told Business Insider: "I think if you honestly asked any of the women that were here on this show, we would all say, 'Yeah, absolutely.' This has been an adventure of a lifetime."

Franchise host Jesse Palmer was enthusiastic when asked about 'The Golden Bachelorette' too

Palmer told ET in an interview published November 20 that he doesn't have a clue as to whether or not the spinoff will get the green light.

"I really hope we do it. I've been clamoring for it as well," Palmer told the outlet.

"I just love the group of women on Gerry's season. I can't single one out specifically. I think there's a number that would be phenomenal Golden Bachelorettes, and that are very deserving of that opportunity," he added.

Palmer also joked about the group dynamics that could come about as a result of having a group of older men living together in one house.

"I would also love to see a mansion full of 70-something-year-old guys just trying to fix everything around the mansion all day with their hands down their pants. Snoring and falling asleep on the couch during the day," the host said.

A Disney exec said the network hadn't started casting yet, seemingly confirming that 'The Golden Bachelorette' would be filming soon

"I think right now, it's really important to get this season right," Rob Mills, Disney's executive vice president of unscripted programming, said on a recent episode of the "Bachelor Party" podcast. "We haven't really dove deep into it. I mean, we haven't even started casting yet."

Mills echoed the sentiment, shared by fans and "Golden Bachelor" contestants alike, that each of the women from Gerry's season would be deserving of a chance to find love on television.

"I don't disagree. They'd all be very different stories. It's really going to be difficult," Mills said of casting the Golden Bachelorette.

While there's yet to be official confirmation from ABC, Mills' comments make it sound as though "The Golden Bachelorette" is an all but done deal.
