Rand Paul uses Heimlich maneuver to save choking colleague at Senate lunch
Sen. Joni Ernst (R-IA) was choking on her lunch Thursday when Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) jumped in to help, Politico's Burgess Everett posted on social media.
The lawmaker — who is known for political obstruction but apparently knows how to clear airwaves — cleared the blockage with the Heimlich maneuver. Ernst is "OK," senators said.
According to photos posted by Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA) Ernst was taking part in a chop from the Iowa Cattlemen's Association, which had set up a lunchtime spread for lawmakers.

Although Paul is a doctor, his specialty is in ophthalmology.
Ernst later joked about the incident while thanking Paul.
Can’t help but choke on the woke policies Dems are forcing down our throats," she tweeted. Thanks, Dr. @RandPaul!"
