Huang's Home / ZHUI Design Studio

In the rapid development process of urbanization in towns and cities, there is often a lack of proper urban planning. In my childhood memories, the impression of that area was rows of tightly built houses with minimal separation between them and only a mini drainage ditch serving as a fire lane in the rear.

Terra Kota House / Terra Firma Architects

Archdaily.com

The house, situated on the outskirts of Ahmedabad, India, is surrounded by a canopy of the Yellow Gulmohar trees. It was designed for a family of four, where the parents would spend their retired life while the children would be engrossed in developing their careers. Fundamentally, it had to respond to the needs of two generations where one can come together to enjoy each other’s company but also respect their time alone. Keeping in mind such a brief, the architecture responds to a variety of spaces of various scales where one can unwind. Читать дальше...

Spring House / Salamanca Arquitetos

The Primavera House, located in a residential neighborhood in the city of Toledo-PR, is the result of a transformation opportunity. The mid-80s residence aimed to create a new, current space that could meet the demands of a growing family. The existing structure was preserved, and some internal walls were removed to integrate the spaces. Additionally, two expansions were added, one at the front and another at the back.

The apartment is the result of the division into several apartments of an emblematic villa of the Basque architecture of the 30s built by the Gomez brothers. It was the entrance Hall, consisting of 3 walls and a huge bay window facing the lighthouse of Biarritz and the Atlantic Ocean.

This 500 m2 workshop is located a stone’s throw from Place de la République in Paris. It constitutes a unit with the Béranger apartment project, also carried out by the agency. The latter is located in the building on the street. The project owners were looking for a location at the heart of Paris that would allow them to accommodate both their family and their company’s offices.

A New Generation of Living Buildings Using Hygromorphic Materials

Archdaily.com

When discussing sustainability in construction, we are used to an approach based on complex technological solutions, expensive sensors, costly materials and, most recently, artificial intelligence. But what if everything we are looking for (in terms of sustainability) could come from the materials themselves, taking advantage of their intrinsic properties, without even relying on electricity? The use of hygromorphic materials offers an innovative perspective and sheds light on little-explored possibilities in the field. Читать дальше...

Ring House / OFIS Architects

Archdaily.com

In one of the areas of former Ljubljana suburbs, where bourgeois houses were built during the interwar period, stands an unusual hybrid. The original house with its cubic volume, typical of the early modernism of the 1930s, with semicircle fringes and scanty details stretches towards the garden with its modern addition - a light floating pavilion. The pavilion uses the original volumes' curvatures as a formal starting point, but we can tell by its expression the unmistakable continuity of works from Ljubljana architectural studio Ofis. In collaboration with MassLab, OODA has been awarded first place in the Barrosinha Agricultural Company competition, aimed at creating a 2,000-hectare development seamlessly integrated into the agro-forestry heritage of Alcácer do Sal, Portugal. Housing with Pink Chimneys / fala

Archdaily.com

The empty plot is small, limited and somewhat sad. The same could be said about the regulations applicable. The entire volume of the building is predefined—a slightly skewed box of four levels with a setback at the top. In an arrogant move, the project tries to be ambitious, overly complex and joyful.

Victoria and Albert Museum Investigates Tropical Modernism Movements in West Africa, Modern India, and Ghana

Archdaily.com

The Victoria & Albert Museum is set to present an expansive exhibition focused on Tropical Modernism, an architectural movement that emerged in the late 1940s. British architects Jane Drew and Maxwell Fry were instrumental in developing this approach, combining modernism’s functional goals with local climate adaptations in warm and humid weather. A family of three lives in a sunny and airy environment surrounded by balconies on three sides located at the corner of the building. Hedge House / Mindspark Architects

Archdaily.com

Nestled discreetly in the rural landscapes of Pathanamthitta, The Hedge unfolds as a subtle masterpiece, comprising three bedrooms and a wealth of thoughtfully designed spaces. The facade, dressed in a pristine blank white, belies the richness concealed within. An homage to climatic sensitivity, the design is a symphony of elements aimed at ensuring comfort and harmony within. The exterior narrative is painted with deliberate strokes: a first-floor wardrobe and toilet act as buffer spaces, their... Читать дальше...
