Heidelberg, the city of science and research, now has its first major dedicated congress and convention venue. The Basel-based architectural bureau Degelo Architekten has developed a characterful building that on the exterior appears compact and plain, but turns out to have a complex and many-faceted interior.
Facing the village of Saint-Emilion, Château Pavie Macquin enjoys an exceptional location. In harmony with its surroundings, the wine estate is nestled in the heart of a meticulously cultivated agricultural landscape shaped by human hands. Perched on a hill, the building extends horizontally, following the contours of the landscape.
House Three is part of a larger complex that has gradually been built for the same family over time. It is the third of a total of six residences planned in 2016 through a master plan that encompasses not only housing but also amenities and green spaces at the center of the complex.
Cinemateket in Oslo is a movie theatre for classic and alternative contemporary films. The design of Cinemateket is a tribute to the good old-fashioned cinema experience, while at the same time acknowledging the movie theatre setting within a robust 1940s concrete warehouse. The material palette of oak timber, powder-coated aluminum, and glass, creates a visual dialogue with the exposed rough concrete construction of the old building. Wonderkin is a kids ‘edutainment’ playroom in Kuwait City where children from toddlers to preteens get to be active and learn new things all while they play. The playroom sits within an outdoor complex of shops and cafes generally intended for young adults and parents, so an elegant but fun look was the aim for the facade design as well as the interior soft aesthetic, which had a ‘colorful Nordic’ theme.
