CCF condemns police officer for mutilating woman’s ear with pliers

The Crime Check Foundation (CCF) has condemned an alleged incident involving a police officer stationed at Tema Community 8, said to have cut off a woman 39;s ear with a pair of pliers. The victim, Ms Judith Yaakuma, 20, had been left traumatised and in excruciating pain, which had stirred public conversation over the need for reforms at the police stations.

Racecourse Market fire: Court remands three persons for attacking fire officers

Kwadaso Circuit Court has remanded three persons in connection with the attack on fire officers at the Racecourse Market on Monday. The accused, 18-year-old Solomon Anaba, 21-year-old Lamamia Ishmael and 18-year-old Akongoli Adoko were arrested for assaulting a fire crew who were responding to an outbreak which swept through a section of the Racecourse Market.

ECG misinforming the public about power outages - John Jinapor

Mr John Abdulai Jinapor, the Ranking Member of the Energy Committee of Parliament, says the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) is allegedly misinforming the public about the swell in the ongoing power outages also known as ldquo;dumsor rdquo; in the country.

The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), has said so far 630 distribution transformers within communities across its operational areas have been full to capacity due to increased demand. In a public notice on Monday, 11 March 2024, the ECG noted ldquo;this situation may result in blown fuses and broken conductors causing outages, especially during the peak load period (7pm -11pm) in the affected areas.

“Remove taxes on our medications” – Glaucoma Patients to gov't

Mr Harrison K. Abutiate, the National President of Glaucoma Patients Association of Ghana (GpAG), has appealed to the Government to remove all taxes on glaucoma medications. Mr Abutiate, in an interview with the Ghana News Agency, said treatment had become a challenge due to high cost of medication arising from high taxes and exchange rates.

Five arrested for attacking fire fighters  at Kumasi Racecourse Market

Five persons have been arrested by the Suame Divisional Police Command for allegedly attacking fire fighters while on duty at the Kumasi Racecourse Market in the Ashanti Region. According to reports, one of the fire officers was injured in an unprovoked attack by the suspects.
