I will establish $50m fund to strengthen Fintech industry – Mahama

Former President John Dramani Mahama, has pledged to establish a $50 million fund to strengthen Ghana rsquo;s rapidly growing financial technology (fintech) industry if he becomes president in 2025. With over 70 fintech companies in the country, many of them being start-ups, Mr Mahama emphasised the importance of strategically positioning the fintech sector to drive economic growth.

8 die in gory accident on Akomadan Road

Some eight persons have lost their lives in a vehicular accident on the Nkenkensu to Akomadan road in the Ashanti Region. The accident happened around 4am on Wednesday when a Kia vehicle, which was said to be fully loaded with chicken, veered from its lane and collided head-on with an oncoming Yutong bus.

John Kumah’s death: Captain Smart invited by Police over poisoning claims, points Oheneba Boamah

The Accra Regional Police Command has summoned controversial broadcaster Captain Smart for questioning regarding his statements concerning the death of Deputy Finance Minister John Kumah. A police source confirmed that Oheneba Boamah, a presenter with Kumasi-based Wontumi TV/Radio, has also been invited for questioning after being mentioned by Captain Smart and his team during their meeting with the police.

Jobless environmental health officers threaten to stage demo over delayed postings

Environmental Health Officers who have been jobless since 2021 have threatened to stage a protest unless the government grants them financial clearance for them to be employed. Government supports apprenticeship programme with GH₵800m

Government is investing GH?800 million in the Ghana Apprenticeship Programme (GAP) to promote skill development and employment creation. The funding is derived from a loan of $40 million from the World Bank and euro;20 million Euros from the German Development Bank (KfW).
