MacKenzie Yei free to play against us, tribunal not until 02/04
Gladwin Springer cleared to play after receiving a fine
Brad Day 1 match ban

Yei might not play anyway, he looked visibly unfit with his knee heavily strapped at Leigh (injury occurred about 8 months ago) and presumably only played at Leigh because we had nobody else fit. Читать дальше...

Letting Dupree go was another great choice too.

So the squads have been announced, ours in unchanged. Will we have more luck down the lane this year than last? Given their squad, even though they always raise their game to play us, if we don't win comfortably then it will only add to the problems we have. Interesting that Salford are at home to Leigh and Giants are at London this week so both could win.

I still think we’re 2 seasons away from been able to say we should be achieving a top 6 spot but if we ace our recruitment we might be able to start competing around there. Think most are right in that we need to focus on attributes, for me:

1. An on field leader (preferably a back row/13 for me)

2. Controlling half back with a good long kicking game.

3. A hooker with some zip.

That’s how I’d use my quota spots. Then we’ve got to find domestically:

Leeds Rhinos • Re: BBC Coverage of the cup game

Rugby League Supporters Association Online

The coverage was about the worst I have seen from the BBC.

It was embarrassing how the commentator kept having to apologise for the fact that the on-screen timer bore no relation to the actual amount of game time elapsed. No tackle counter was irritating after getting used to Sky's coverage.

The first 10 minutes or so featured too high volume on the referees microphone that sounded like listening into a mobile phone conversation on the train being sat next to someone with their phone on speaker mode. Читать дальше...

Warrington Wolves • WIRE YED Prediction Competition Catalans Home

They say that revenge is a dish best served cold, well Saturday gives the P&B a chance to make up for the only blot on our results copybook, as Catalans pay a visit to the Halliwell Jones.

A decent test and a close call for those that like a parier avec le bookies, but who'll be making steak tartare out of who?

You decide and bon chance

a) Score and Winning team: Warrington 0 v 0 Catalans
b) First try (Wire player):
c) Time of first try:
d) Last try (any team... Читать дальше...

Yeh Completely agree even by challenge cup standards those attendances are abysmal and only two/ three games on TV so they can't blame that. We bring in a multi million pound organisation who are top of the tree internationally for sports promotion and development and then over rule them when they indicate the way they think the game should go!! Same scenario with size of Super League and getting rid of loop fixtures. I think for a lot of uninitiated folk the game is getting boring. Читать дальше...

Intruiged as to how finances could have got worse as pass sales and TV money have stayed the same, while we presume salary cap cut and we are told sponsorship has increased.

We were also told that we were at full cap and that certainly seems questionable. I think anything that comes out of the club should probably be taken with a pinch of salt.

I admire your optimism, and you make some valid points, sadly you gloss over the facts we never really troubled the Saints defence, they however made easy yardage against our defence. The big question is are we a good team playing poorly or just an average/poor team.

EVERY team makes easy yardage against us. Seeing teams go 80m in sets is frustratingly common and we are becoming more and more reliant on wonder plays / individual efforts to get ourselves out of our own 20. Читать дальше...

Newman concedes by flopping on a player already being taken into touch with good play from Mom. Not on the back foot.

Frawley passes into Mik’s body around the half way line as we’re attacking, losing possession. Not on the back foot.

I meant from the props/middles then Cozza would be the one to miss out. But I agree with you about the second row. The is how I'd line the pack up:

Bowden
Hood
Atoni
Putts
Griffin
Rodwell

Doyle
Uele

The Virtual Terrace • RL Podcast

For anybody interested in the systems involved in running a modern RL club there's a fascinating episode of the Wakefield Trinity Heritage Podcast interviewing Ste Mills, recruitment and salary cap manager at Trinity. I realise that these podcasts are largely aimed at fans of the club, but the guys doing this Podcast offer content that is often of wider appeal, interviewing some truly interesting characters...e,g a few weeks ago they did a superb episode with Gary Hetherington.

Leigh Leopards • Re: Squads - Leopards v Fev

Bongser does not point fingers at any individuals, but it has to be agreed that the tackling on Saturday was poor to woeful. Anyone thinking that comment harsh did not see the heroics of (most) of last season and that was the thing that was most concerning. Yes, Cry Baby Wellens has got his way ($urprise, $urprise) and all teams are struggling to adapt. But, still....

Think Pitts is a right second row so likely Griffin could move to the left but personally I’d keep Ashurst in but just look to sub him In second half to change the team dynamics if needed.

Ashurst is the captain and will play pending a spell of poor form. So far he’s been solid consistently. Читать дальше...

Ths Cup cant carry on with this format, all the games will have lost money this weekend. SL teams need to go in a round earlier again with the lowest ranked team at home for some different scenery at least. Also we might win a game against a League1 team
