NATIONAL SUMMARY
Severe thunderstorms will shift farther east today as a cold
front continues to advance, bringing the risk of strong wind
gusts, hail and flooding downpours stretching from the
Florida Panhandle through the Atlanta metropolitan area and
into parts of the Carolinas. Heavy rain and gusty winds will
lead to travel disruptions in the mid-Atlantic. A mixture of
snow, ice and rain will affect areas from northern West
Virginia to the southern tier of New York state. As the
storm moves along, mostly snow will fall on colder areas in
the northern parts of New York and in central and northern
New England with rain near the coast at night. Rain will
soak the lower Great Lakes region with snow that transitions
to rain showers over the Upper Midwest. Farther west, rain
